Help
- You will review proposals for expanded or alternative work proposed by other employees or contractors and make decisions on major issues and controversies by directing what work will be performed and what compromises can be accepted.
- You will deliver optimized technical solutions that are balanced to achieve required technical
performance within cost, schedule and technology constraints.
- You will identify and solves a wide variety of complex problems with many competing objectives,
variables and constraints.
- You will develop or test new equipment or material that significantly adds to the operability and usefulness of existing or new equipment/systems having new features.
- You will provide technically sound advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of systems or concept development.
- You will provide electro-optics engineering support to the Joint Strike Fighter Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) Integrated Product Team.
- You will provide technical support to the engineering lead in areas associated with the F-35 HMD including development, design support and test execution related to the system and components (display, night vision camera, and tracking system.).
- You will interface on a daily basis with prime and sub-contractor personnel and government subject matter experts.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9/11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1)Demonstrating detailed knowledge with avionic systems and helmet mounted displays; 2) Understanding night vision physics and products; 3) Ensuring effective planning, development, design support, and execution related to the system and its components; 4) Demonstrating knowledge of Helmet Performance; 5) Demonstrating experience with military electro-optical system development and test; and 6) Utilizing project management/coordination policies, processes, procedures, and responsibilities. 7) Experience with military electro-optical system development and test .

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
0801 SERIES
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico The FE examination is not administered by the U. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)
OR
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
1310 SERIES
A. Have successfully completed a bachelor's degree or higher in physics, or a related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics. Courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, course in any of two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.

B. Have a combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, course in any of two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
0180 SERIES
Successfully completed a degree with a major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations.
OR
Successfully completed all the requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
