You'll work directly with an experienced Controller and a new CFO, gain visibility across multiple business units, and get hands-on exposure to financial reporting, WIP and project accounting, job costing, inventory, budgeting, forecasting, systems and process improvement.Instead of getting pigeonholed into one piece of the close, you'll have the opportunity to understand how the entire business operates and build the experience that prepares you for the next step in your career.The company has a strong track record of stability, offers performance-based bonus potential and excellent benefits, and provides the opportunity for one work-from-home day per week after you're trained and established in the role.What You'll DoLead and support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closePrepare financial statements and supporting schedulesPerform GL maintenance and account reconciliationsAnalyze financial results and explain significant variancesMaintain and analyze WIP schedules, job costing and project profitabilitySupport fixed asset and inventory accountingAssist with annual audits and tax preparationParticipate in budgeting and forecastingPartner with operations and project managers on project costs and profitabilityImprove internal controls, accounting processes and proceduresParticipate in ERP, systems and process-improvement initiativesWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in AccountingApproximately 3–6 years of progressive accounting experiencePublic accounting/audit experience strongly preferredIdeal background: 2+ years of public accounting plus 1–2+ years of corporate accountingStrong GAAP, financial reporting and month-end close experienceStrong Excel and ERP skillsExcellent analytical, problem-solving and communication abilitiesConstruction experience is NOT required. Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, distribution, industrial services or another project-based environment is a plus.Exposure to WIP, job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, inventory, sales tax, certified payroll or government contracts is helpful but not required.Compensation & Benefits$90,000–$100,000 base salaryPerformance-based bonus401(k)Medical, dental, vision and life insurancePTO and paid sick timePotential for 1 WFH day per week after trainingLocation: Oak Park IL area
