National Language Services (NLS) is seeking qualified and dependable  Hmong interpreters to join our growing nationwide interpreter network. We are looking for professionals interested in  on-site and/or remote interpreting opportunities across a variety of settings.

Position Overview

Hmong interpreters facilitate accurate and effective communication between Hmong-speaking individuals and English-speaking professionals. Assignments may be available on an  in-person, Video Remote Interpreting (VRI), or Over-the-Phone Interpreting (OPI) basis.

Opportunities may include assignments in  medical, legal, educational, government, public service, and community settings .

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and impartial consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation, as appropriate for the assignment.
• Interpret between  Hmong and English while preserving the meaning, tone, and intent of the original message.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Follow applicable interpreter ethics, standards of practice, and assignment-specific protocols.
• Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled on-site or remote assignments.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct during in-person and video assignments.
• Use appropriate terminology for medical, legal, educational, government, and community settings.
• Maintain reliable communication regarding availability and accepted assignments.

Qualifications

• Professional proficiency in  Hmong and English .
• Prior professional interpreting experience is strongly preferred.
• Interpreter training, certification, or relevant professional credentials are preferred.
• Experience in  medical, legal, educational, government, or public-service interpreting is a plus.
• Strong listening, memory, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain neutral, accurate, and professional in sensitive situations.
• Reliable internet connection, computer, headset, camera, and appropriate private workspace for remote assignments.
• Reliable transportation for interpreters interested in on-site assignments.

Assignment Types

On-Site: Hospitals, clinics, schools, legal proceedings, government agencies, community programs, meetings, appointments, and other public-service settings.

Remote: Scheduled and/or available  VRI and OPI assignments , depending on client needs and interpreter qualifications.
