In This Position…As part of our Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering (PTME) team, you’ll help build the world-class powertrains we're known for. In our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies, processes, and testing methods to further increase our quality and efficiency. In this role, the candidate will function as both an engineer and project manager, working cross-functionally within manufacturing and across the enterprise to deliver new engine programs and ensure that the quality of powertrains are industry-leading. Leveraging data analytics and machine learning tools, engine manufacturing test engineers consider assembly processes, cost efficiencies, and quality standards to deliver these fresh new customer products. This role offers high visibility with Ford manufacturing leadership and cross-functional senior executives, requiring deep collaboration across the entire manufacturing value chain to ensure the best possible return on investment (ROI). The engine manufacturing test engineer position is based in the Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering (PTME) office in Dearborn, Michigan. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week. #LI-Hybrid#LI-VO1 #GMEWhat you'll do...Support the specification, procurement, build, installation and launch of Powertrain Production Test Systems for engine powertrain projects Deliver standardized test processes and equipment in line with global powertrain strategiesSupport all test processes (e.g. Leak Test, In-Process Test, Cold Test, Hot Run)Collaborate with Product Engineering to achieve a working Product design that meets Manufacturing Design Specifications with feasible expectations in the Test Engineering Specification (ES)Work with Prototype Engineering to determine feasible test solutions and methodology during the early stages of new programsWork with a multi-functional engineering team from Assembly, Machining, Quality and Plant Operations to ensure proper integration of test processes into powertrain manufacturing systemsDevelop production test sequences and monitor product function through a test software interfaceTroubleshoot production issues impacting FTT and warranty, determine corrective actions to the part, assembly, and machining processes and/or test equipmentImplement test stand modifications as required for new models and corrective actionsImplement test sequence (software) updates for new models and corrective actionsConduct equipment acceptance activities for test machines at both the OEM and Mfg.
