Public Relations and Communications Coordinator

Job Duties
Responsible for executing consistent, impactful strategies across marketing, communications, and fundraising initiatives in both English and Spanish. This role is crucial for amplifying NAMI MN’s mission, engaging our community, & driving essential financial support through strategic public relations, content creation, & digital outreach.
Specific duties include:
• Under the Dir. of Development, implement marketing & communications strategies to support fundraising and development goals, including major donor cultivation through campaigns & ongoing stewardship.
• Prepare audience-specific communication plans across all donor segments.
• Bring clarity to complex subjects by connecting with other team leads to create targeted & authentic narratives that engage & inform various stakeholders.
• Consistently track & report on impactful & accurate marketing, communications, & PR metrics.
• Coordinate content for key organizational publications, including the Advocate newsletter & the Annual Report.
• Write compelling copy to support public relations needs across media channels in English & Spanish.
• Provide content & special campaign landing pages for the organization's website including blog posts in English & Spanish.
• Plan and execute a comprehensive social media strategy & analysis for social medial platforms, including donation campaigns.
• Track metrics to measure the success of social media efforts & adapt strategies accordingly.
• Coordinate scheduling of e-newsletters & other email campaigns, ensuring timely & effective delivery.
• Design & develop creative materials for advertising campaigns & events in English & Spanish.
• Coordinate media relations efforts, including writing & distributing press releases.
• Under the Executive Director, craft responses to media inquiries, including those involving real-time and reputational communications.
• Monitor and respond to crises such as threats to our mental health system, NAMI MN itself, and potentially traumatic events that might have an impact on people's mental health in MN by making statements and sharing news with an urgent action logic, highlighting the mental health implications of the situation taking place.
• Provide dedicated marketing and communications support for the promotion of special events and campaigns in both English and Spanish.
Minimum Education Required
Requires Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Human Rights, Public Affairs, or related field. Must have two years of related experience in human rights, communications, and/or public relations.
Experience must include:
• Experience managing multiple priorities, problem-solving, and meeting deadlines, including press work and creating communication responses in a time of crises.
• Experience with conducting public presentations.
• Experience with social media in order to increase community engagement, including fundraising, raising awareness, and conducting impact evaluations.
• Experience working with the media and developing marketing/advertising campaigns, including developing storytelling and copywriting, tailoring releases to media outlets, designing advertising graphics, and measuring the impacts of ads.
• Experience as a communications and marketing professional at a non-profit or nongovernmental organization.
• Experience creating campaigns for Spanish speakers.
Must be proficient in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
Hybrid remote work is permitted (2 remote days/week).
