Responsibilities
- Perform histological procedures to prepare surgical specimens for diagnostic pathology, including embedding, sectioning, and mounting.
- Conduct H&E staining and cover slipping of tissue sections; prepare frozen sections as required.
- Carry out special histochemical procedures and document results according to policy.
- Maintain accurate records and operate within laboratory information systems; ensure specimen integrity and proper labeling.
- Monitor equipment, manage workload, and uphold safety and quality standards in the histology department.
- Support pathology team with routine tasks and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Requirements
- Education: Graduate of a one-year accredited histology program
- Certification: Certificate in Histology (Histotechnician or Histotechnologist); ASCP registration required
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of histology experience; strong knowledge of embedding, cutting, mounting, H&E staining, frozen sections, and special stains
- Skills: Proficient in histology procedures, basic computer skills, and ability to work in a hospital laboratory setting
- Travel-specific: Travel assignment; permanent address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
