Description: The nurse will work on a telemetry unit. The unit has a total of 32 beds. The patient-to-nurse ratios are 4:1 and 5:1. Common diagnoses include medical/surgical overflow and non-acute stroke patients. Registered Nurses will be responsible for titrating drips. Common titratable drips include insulin and pain medications. Registered Nurses are required to validate telemetry strips. Charge nurses and house supervisors are present on the unit. Nurse aides will assist with patient care with an average ratio of 8:1 to 10:1. Respiratory therapy equipment includes BiPAP and high flow devices. Self-scheduling is available, with a possibility of open shifts. Weekend requirements are based on unit needs and demands. Floating to other units may be required. The work environment is described as a highly functioning team with great support and a family-oriented atmosphere. Travelers should not have time off requests during the first week of assignment. The cancellation policy allows for shifts to be canceled as per guidelines. Charting is done using a specific electronic health record system.
