Senior Electrical Engineer – Building Systems

New York, NY | Hybrid Schedule

Our Building Services Group is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to help design high-performing, resilient, and sustainable buildings. This position is ideal for an accomplished engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and taking ownership of projects from concept through construction.

Based in our New York corporate office, you’ll contribute to a diverse portfolio that may include residential and mixed-use developments, K–12 schools, higher-education facilities, commercial interiors, laboratories, and building-electrification projects.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design of electrical power, lighting, fire-alarm, and telecommunications systems.
• Develop circuitry, equipment layouts, details, one-line diagrams, schedules, and technical specifications.
• Perform load, fault-current, arc-flash, lighting, and other electrical-system calculations.
• Prepare coordinated construction drawings, specifications, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Review electrical documents for quality, code compliance, constructability, and conflicts with other building systems.
• Select and specify electrical equipment appropriate for each project’s technical and operational requirements.
• Incorporate energy-efficient and sustainable design strategies into building projects.
• Coordinate electrical systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and other disciplines.
• Work directly with owners, architects, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams.
• Participate in client meetings to identify needs, present solutions, and resolve design issues.
• Help maintain project schedules, technical quality, and alignment with the overall design vision.
• Support projects during construction administration.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited four-year institution.
• At least 7 years of professional experience designing electrical systems for commercial or institutional buildings.
• Previous experience with an architecture-engineering or MEP consulting firm.
• Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code, International Building Code, and other applicable standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience producing coordinated construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and firm deadlines.
• Initiative, sound technical judgment, and a collaborative working style.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
