Details Neuro-focused Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting Patient population includes general medicine with a focus on neurological diagnoses Patient ratio of 1:6 Night shift, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM; 36 or 48 hours per week accepted Contract length of 13–26 weeks Every other weekend required (approximately 5–6 weekend shifts per contract) Travelers are required to float first Schedule is manager-assigned Epic used for documentation; Pyxis for medication management; SBAR for communication Epic experience preferred Requirements Active NC or compact RN license (may be pending at time of consideration) Current BLS and ACLS certifications (may be pending at time of consideration) Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Must pass an EKG test prior to start Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 2 years required prior to start (pending at time of consideration is acceptable) Neuro experience preferred NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred Charge nurse experience or willingness to learn the charge nurse role preferred Additional Information Unit orientation is 24 hours, conducted weekly 8–10 hours of pre-start online modules required (must also be completed annually) Scrub color required: Navy Blue Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays RTO is not permitted during the first week of assignment due to orientation; up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday RTO requests cannot be negotiated or worked out onsite after booking Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters Consolidation to a centralized office and reassignment to other units may occur mid-contract Former permanent, PRN, or EP employees of this health system must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required Travel pairs are welcome; each must have their own transportation and be comfortable with differing schedules Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a reduced rate American Traveler Job ID P-724892.
