About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Compact or state nursing license required upon submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: High acuity ICU experience Patient ratio experience: 1:2 Epic experience required Experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps preferred Charge experience preferred Transplant experience (liver, heart, lung, kidney, pancreas) required Description: This role involves providing high-quality nursing care in a surgical intensive care setting. You will be responsible for caring for postoperative patients and transplant recovery patients. The unit is composed of cardiac surgery patients, transplant patients, general surgery, medicine overflow, and cardiac overflow cases. Daily patient ratios are set at 1:2 in the ICU. Responsibilities will include managing ventilated patients and administering blood products. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physical therapy and respiratory services. The environment requires adherence to infection prevention protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment. You must be comfortable with potential assignments to an "emergency team" should a critical event occur. Candidates must be prepared to float to other ICUs as needed. Candidates who have worked as permanent staff or in-house contractors must have separated from their previous roles for one full year before returning as travelers.
