Registered Nurse (RN)

The unit is composed of a 300 unit with 14 beds and a main unit featuring 44 beds. The division allows for a diverse patient population, focusing on:

• Surgical
• Orthopedic
• Medical
• Cardiac care in the main unit

Patient Care Responsibilities

Registered Nurses will provide care to a variety of patients, including but not limited to:

• Post-catheterization
• Post-pacemaker
• Post-PCI
• Day 1 TAVR
• Day 1 CABG
• Patients with sepsis
• Respiratory distress cases

Qualifications

Required certifications include:

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS

A BSN is not required for this position.

Work Environment

The Registered Nurse will work a 12-hour shift from 6 PM to 6 AM, with a weekend requirement of every other week, totaling four weekend shifts in a four-week schedule. Holiday shifts will be incorporated into the permanent staff rotation.

Staffing and Support

• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4.
• One Nurse Aide is available on the night shift, one on mid-shift, and 3-4 on the day shift.
• The unit has a Monitor Tech and 24/7 Respiratory Therapy support.
• Pharmacy support is available 24/7, with access to Marian after 10 PM.
• No IV team is available.

Charting and Communication

The facility uses the Cerner EMR system for documentation. Nurses are responsible for reading telemetry strips and managing various drips, including:

• Amiodarone
• Heparin
• Cardizem
• Fixed rate insulin
• Nitroglycerin
• Dopamine (only for renal dosing)

Floating Requirements

Staff may be required to float between the 300 unit and the main unit. A 6-hour floor-specific orientation will be provided upon hiring.
