Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 21 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Experience managing renal patients Description: The nursing position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience. First-time travelers are accepted. The patient population includes adults to geriatrics. Candidates must possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. General skills required include experience in renal medical-surgical nursing. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6. The unit has 49 rooms with an average daily census of 48. Candidates should have experience with the Epic charting system. Navy blue scrubs are required as part of the uniform. Travelers are expected to work one major holiday if it falls within their assignment period. If two major holidays fall during the assignment, travelers are expected to work both. If three major holidays fall during the assignment, travelers are expected to work two. Compliance with all onboarding requirements is necessary to start on time. If compliance documents are not completed in time, the start date may be pushed back. Candidates will be required to float within the facility as needed. Travelers must work every other weekend unless specified otherwise. The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including various specialized teams. Skills needed include management of feeding tubes, insulin administration, and wound care. The role involves various patient care responsibilities and procedures relevant to the specialty. The detailed knowledge of isolation precautions and use of PPE is also required. Candidates should be familiar with telemetry and remote monitoring systems.
