Registered Nurse (RN) – Stroke/Neuro PCUThis position includes the following scheduling details:Shift hours: 3x12s, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AMCharting: Experience with EPIC is requiredWeekend Requirement: May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling blockRequests for time off (RTO): All requests must be included with the submissionCall Off Policy: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeksHoliday Requirement: One holiday must be worked during each 13-week contract (Christmas RTO not approved)First-Time Travelers: Accepted, although travel experience is preferredLocal Candidates: Accepted with radius rule criteriaPending License: Accepted if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state; otherwise, must have an active Virginia State or Compact RN licenseRequired CertificationsACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)BLS (Basic Life Support)NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)Required Clinical SkillsCardiac monitoring and emergency responseDysrhythmia interpretation and managementIV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line careMedication administration including cardiac drips (no titration)Respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway managementExperience in Neuro PCUKnowledge of isolation precautions and telemetry settings across various unitsUnit Details and FloatingStaffing Ratios: Typically 1:5, with a goal of 1:4Unit Description: The telemetry PCU specializes in the care and management of patients with hospitalist medicine including stroke and neurology patientsIV Drips Managed: Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, KetamineRemote telemetry with tele sitting implemented to enhance Patient Care Tech coverageFloating: Required within the employee's skill setHospital HighlightsThe facility is a large acute care institution located in Roanoke, VA, recognized as a Level I Trauma Center and designated as Magnet. It serves as a teaching hospital affiliated with an esteemed medical school and provides advanced specialty care, including services in bariatric, trauma, and surgical disciplines.Client Details State VA
