The Stewarding Supervisor is responsible for the operations of the stewarding department during the afternoon and evening shifts to ensure proper washing of kitchen utensil sanitation. He/she is also responsible for supervising the stewarding department and ensuring that all outlet surfaces and utensils are clean and in compliance with all Health department requirements and hotel guidelines.

Responsibilities include:

• Supervising activities of evening stewards, pot washers, and night stewards to ensure proper utensil sanitation and storage.
• Complying and assuring compliance with all safety standards by following all safety rules and procedures.
• Checking banquet hallway, loading dock, and receiving area for cleanliness.
• Supervising and maintaining the sanitation of kitchen, store rooms, hallways, dock, and equipment.
• Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and orderliness in all kitchens, back dock, dumpster and utility work areas.
• Keeping management informed of shortage of equipment and supplies.
• Operating the dishwashing equipment to ensure that all china, glass, and silver are cleaned thoroughly and sanitation of such is maintained.
• Returning all clean china, glass, and silver to its proper storage location using care to minimize breakage.
• Knowledge of proper safe handling techniques for all chemicals used.
• Reporting any faulty equipment to management immediately.
• Knowing the location and operation of all fire extinguishing equipment.
• Practicing safe work habits at all times to avoid possible injury to self or other employees.
• Following the proper procedures in the breakdown, cleaning and reassembling of all kitchen equipment, as needed.
• Following all sanitation standards.
• Preparing route sheets for the day.

• Being able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Approaching all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
• Attending all hotel required meetings and trainings.
• Maintaining regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
• Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
• Complying with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
• Maximizing efforts towards productivity, identifying problem areas and assisting in implementing solutions.
• Being effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
• Being able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
• Being able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
• Maintaining confidentiality of information.
• Being able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
• Performing other duties as requested by management.

Education & Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a related field preferred.
• College course in related field helpful.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Physical requirements:

• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• Ability to stand during entire shift.

For Employees Based in Washington:

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
• Paid Sick & Safe Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, with up to 72 hours of unused time carried over from one anniversary year to the next.

For Employees Based in Colorado:

• 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
• 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
• Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
