The position will manufacture colored resin to match a standard color. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform setup, run execution, and shutdown procedures in compliance with expansion process instructions and manufacturing systems requirements. Verify processes are within the compliance of the Continuous Improvement procedural parameters and accepted manufacturing tolerances and specifications. This will require skills in the use of a spectrophotometer, melt flow indexer, and powder sieve analysis. Work closely with the maintenance team to communicate equipment issues that impact process control and quality standards, and assist as required. Participate in machine changeovers to ensure machine set‑ups are in place to provide optimal start‑up of new production and meet quality specifications. Complete daily production reports. Maintain accurate inventory. Read detailed blueprints. Use hand tools or machines to complete projects. Must have a valid lift truck license or be capable of passing the required tests to operate a lift truck. Willingness to work in all areas of the department as assigned. Qualifications, Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), preferred. Three years of experience within a manufacturing or equivalent environment. General computer skills, including use of email and the ability to enter process data into a database or spreadsheet as required. Experience within a plastics manufacturing environment is highly preferred. Machine set‑up and troubleshooting experience is highly preferred. Proven mechanical aptitude and critical‑thinking skills. Ability to utilize torque wrenches and various other hand tools while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. Ability to calculate basic math problems, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using fractions and decimals, and an understanding of weight and measurement. Knowledge of general manufacturing principles of mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Language Skills Ability to read, write, and comprehend English. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to read and interpret basic documents, safety rules, and other correspondence. Ability to count and measure equipment using a tape measure. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Other Skills and Abilities Must have experience using the following tools: drill press, square, file, hand drill, pliers, hammer, tape measure, hand grinder, small OBI presses, screwdriver, jigs, fixtures, and ratchet and sockets. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such a level as is determined in the company’s employee handbook. Must be available and willing to work overtime hours as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs. Physical Requirement The working environment will be warm to hot in temperature range. Occasional heavy lifting will be required. The employee will learn to safely handle hot machine parts and hot product. The feed component of the extruder is mezzanine mounted, so the employee will be required, as an essential function of the job, to access a work platform via stairs multiple times daily. The employee must possess positive color acuity to observe variations in color if equipment malfunctions as an essential function of the job.
