Phlebotomist

Location: Manhattan, KS | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, M-F 7:30 am - 4:30 pm | Compensation: $17.40 per hour Overview A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist to join its laboratory team on a contract basis, with potential for permanent placement. This role is critical to ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing that supports patient care and diagnostic testing. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and complete decontamination procedures Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) clearly and courteously to patients Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures using appropriate containers/tubes Follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum of 1 year of experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Compensation and benefits Pay rate of $17.40 per hour Benefits are available Why this role This is a contract position with a projected duration of 3 months and potential for permanent hire, offering benefits and a straightforward Monday-Friday daytime schedule. #J-18808-Ljbffr
