BR+A provides state-of-the-art integrated and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection consulting engineering, technology systems design, lighting design, and building commissioning services.BR+A is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for our Raleigh, NC office. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Revit and AutoCAD, be strongly motivated, well organized, and show professional initiative. The ability to take ownership of assignments and perform well both independently and as part of the project team is necessary.The role includes the following responsibilities:Perform advanced heating and cooling load calculationsDevelop sections and elevations of complex ductwork and piping areasDevelop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phasesEdit specifications to reflect the project requirementsDevelop air and water flowsUnderstand fan and pump curves to properly select equipment for applicationUse the psychrometric chart properly for any HVAC systemMeet with vendors to determine specification requirements for applicationCoordinate with other disciplines (mepfp, arch, struct, etc) for all HVAC detailsRespond to RFI's for the project, and accurately review submittalsUnderstand work planning and manage the design process to the available hours in the work planUnderstand the proper scope of SD, DD, CD level documents and deliver appropriate documentationModify sequences of operations for AHU's, CHW and HW systemsUnderstand both constant and variable flow systems, and properly apply equipmentMeet with contractors during the bid phase to review the design detailsPerform field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects.Required Skills and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical EngineeringPE License required5-7 years of relevant experienceExperience in designing Healthcare, Commercial, Higher Education, or Life Science projectsExcellent organizational and communication skillsProactive and collaborative team memberBR+A is a place to learn, to grow, to work hard for clients that matter – and to be part of something bigger.
