PRN Recreation Therapist (Art/Music/CTRS) - Behavioral Health Setting

Responsibilities Highlands Behavioral Health System is an 86‑bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Littleton, CO. Highlands offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs for adolescents, adults, and seniors. The Recreational Therapist supervises and coordinates the activities of patients in the Recreational Therapy program to facilitate rehabilitation of mentally or emotionally disabled patients. The therapist follows policies, procedures, and standards for the treatment of patients, complies with the performance improvement program, and may organize and conduct music, recreation, or occupational therapy programs, depending on specialty. The therapist directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance, and facilitates the learning of skills and functions essential for adaptation, productivity, and health. Experience – One year of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and an understanding of mental illness (preferred). Licensure – Certification or licensure required (CTRS or Board‑Certified Music Therapist). Additional Requirements – CPR certification within 30 days of employment and successful completion of Handle with Care training. Certification training may be obtained during new‑hire orientation.
