We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations for a large, multi-location workforce based in Traverse City, Michigan. This role oversees the full payroll cycle, ensures compliance with Michigan and multi-state requirements, and supports accurate, timely pay delivery for more than 500 employees. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership capability, deep technical payroll knowledge, and hands-on experience using ADP Workforce Now.

Responsibilities:
• Direct end-to-end payroll processing for a workforce of more than 500 employees across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for each pay cycle.
• Supervise, coach, and allocate work for a payroll team of three while promoting strong performance and operational consistency.
• Administer bi-monthly payroll activities, including review, validation, reconciliation, and final approval before transmission.
• Maintain compliance with Michigan payroll regulations as well as applicable multi-state wage and tax requirements.
• Manage payroll data within ADP Workforce Now and resolve discrepancies related to earnings, deductions, taxes, and employee records.
• Partner with human resources, finance, and other internal stakeholders to address payroll questions, support audits, and improve process reliability.
• Review payroll procedures and implement enhancements that strengthen controls, documentation, and service levels.
• Support payroll-related operational changes, including updates to systems or workflows, while minimizing disruption to employees and the business.• 10+ years of payroll experience, including leadership responsibility in a high-volume environment.
• Demonstrated success managing full-cycle payroll for large employee populations of 500 or more.
• Prior experience overseeing payroll across multiple locations and states.
• Strong knowledge of Michigan payroll laws and regulations.
• Hands-on proficiency with ADP Workforce Now.
• Experience leading or mentoring payroll staff in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Proven ability to manage bi-monthly payroll cycles with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
