Systems Engineer - Mission Definition

Salary: $92,000 - 132,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or a closely related field.
• We need an FAA-certificated pilot (Commercial or Airline Transport) or dispatcher with at least two years of operational experience under 14 CFR 135, 14 CFR 121, or corporate flight operations.
• We look for 7+ years of broad experience designing, integrating, and testing complex safety-critical aerospace systems, or equivalent technology.
• An advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or a related discipline is preferred.
• We value creative problem-solving, cross-functional thinking, and the ability to assess risk and make design decisions using first principles when information is incomplete.
• Experience certifying flight-critical systems, hardware, and software under ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-254, and DO-178C is preferred.
• We require the ability to comply with U.S. export control laws and the associated eligibility documentation.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% is required.

• We contribute to the development of prototypes and certifiable safety-critical flight systems in a fast-paced startup environment.
• We define and document mission-related aspects of future aircraft operations from a pilots perspective.
• We develop and communicate strategies and plans for type certification and operational approval.
• We create training and support materials needed to deploy autonomous systems in an operational setting.
• We support system architecture work and evaluate trade studies involving performance, complexity, risk, and effort.
• We capture system requirements and interfaces to guide avionics hardware and software development.
• We perform operational safety assessments for experimental and production missions.
• We provide engineering expertise in the design, development, testing, and validation of vehicle-level functions and performance.
• We collaborate across disciplines and contribute to a broad range of systems work beyond standard systems engineering tasks.
