Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Operating Room RN will provide specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures. They will collaborate with surgical teams to ensure safe and efficient operations, adhering to all safety protocols and standards.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and prepare patients preoperatively to ensure readiness for surgery.
• Assist surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures, maintaining sterile technique.
• Monitor patient vital signs and status throughout the operation, responding to changes as needed.
• Document all relevant clinical information accurately, including procedure details and patient responses.
• Follow infection control protocols, including specimen handling and universal procedures.
• Administer blood, blood products, and medications as ordered within scope of practice.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid NY state RN license and at least 3 years of perioperative experience.
• Demonstrate competency in phlebotomy, IV placement, and sterile technique.
• Possess current BLS certification; additional certifications such as CNOR preferred.
• Be familiar with Epic charting system and diverse surgical specialties including ortho, neuro, GYN, vascular, and thoracic.
• Able to work a 4x10 day shift schedule and float to other units as needed.
