About the Unit: The Medical Surgical Orthopedic unit at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s has 30 beds. The Registered Nurse could expect to see a variety of patients recovering from hip and knee replacements, hip fractures, shoulder repairs, back surgeries, and craniotomies, as well as general medical/surgical telemetry patients. Med/Surg Ortho is known for being team oriented and having a high success rate for new graduates. RN orientation is individualized to meet the needs of the new hire and their level of nursing experience. About the Job The RN, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The Staff RN is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System. What You Will Do Assess and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence-based practice; assist providers with patient assessment, examinations and treatments; perform basic medical procedures under provider supervision, including procedure setup. Administer medications under provider direction, in accordance with organization standards, policies and procedures. Assist in emergency situations under provider direction. Thoroughly educate and explain procedures to patients and family members. Document accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards. Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate. What We Are Looking For Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. Current BLS/CPR certification. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage patient care, including delegation to and supervision of team members.
