Intermediate Care - Surgical/Trauma Nurse Unit and Schedule Unit: 3B IMC Schedule: Days; 3x12-hour shifts Weekends: 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks (For night shift contracts, weekends are Saturday or Sunday) Duration: 13 weeks Start Date: As specified in the posting Unit Description This intermediate care unit specializes in pulmonary care, serving patients who require advanced airway management. Patient care includes those on ventilators, with tracheostomies, high flow oxygen, or BiPAP. The patient population ranges from adult to geriatric individuals with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions. Additional cases include congestive heart failure, rule out myocardial infarction, post-MI, new onset or unstable angina, pericardial disease, cardiac drug toxicity, suspected pacemaker/ICD malfunction, post ICD/pacemaker insertion, pre/post therapeutic catheterization, dysrhythmias, and patients needing continuous infusion or oral cardiac medications for dysrhythmias. The unit also accommodates medical/surgical overflow patients. Unit Details Beds: 22 Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:4 Requirements Ventilator experience required Active VA or Compact nursing license required at submission BLS and ACLS certification Cardiac telemetry experience within the past year Experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown settings Management of dysrhythmias Telemetry monitoring on the unit Use of Rapid Response Teams Pre/post cardiac catheterization care Central line care and management Peripheral line care and management PICC line management Management of cardiac drips without titration Titration of cardiac drips Heparin protocols Care for traumatic brain injury patients Care of ventilated patients Use of external CPAP/BiPAP High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management Tracheostomy management Isolation precautions EPIC electronic health record system Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience Willingness to assume charge nurse responsibilities (previous charge experience preferred) Comprehensive respiratory proficiency required, including High Flow, Tracheostomy, BiPAP, and ventilator experience Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome Scrub color: Navy blue COVID-19 precautions may apply Weekend shifts: 6 per 6 weeks (For night shifts, weekends include Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) EPIC Training: Accelerated class available for RNs with 6+ months of EPIC experience in the past 12 months (approximately 4 hours of modules) For RNs with less than 6 months of EPIC experience, a 2-day class is provided with no modules Vaccine Information Flu vaccine is required during flu season (October 1st - March 31st) Requests for religious or medical flu vaccine exemptions must comply with CMS guidelines and will be reviewed and approved with supporting documentation #J-18808-Ljbffr SoftPath Medical
