What You’ll Do:

• Process and post patient and insurance payments within the electronic medical record and patient account management system
• Accurately allocate insurance and patient payments to the appropriate accounts and outstanding balances
• Review and audit payment allocations to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies
• Research and resolve payment posting errors, incorrect allocations, and other patient account discrepancies
• Utilize insurance portals, including Availity, to research claims, verify payment statuses, and follow up on outstanding insurance information
• Review, scan, and upload Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documentation into shared electronic files
• Investigate insurance payment issues and communicate with payors as needed to resolve outstanding account questions
• Follow up with patients regarding insurance coverage, payment information, and account-related concerns
• Respond to patient account inquiries by phone and provide accurate information regarding billing and insurance questions
• Draft patient communications related to insurance coverage, payments, and account updates
• Maintain organized patient account documentation, electronic files, and financial records
• Ensure patient payment information is entered accurately and maintained according to established procedures
• Utilize Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Excel to manage daily communication, reporting, and administrative responsibilities
• Collaborate with internal staff to resolve patient account issues and support efficient revenue cycle operations

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience in patient account management, including posting and allocating patient and insurance payments, required
• Strong knowledge of medical insurance, insurance claims, payment processing, and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documentation required
• Experience working with electronic medical records, patient accounting systems, or healthcare billing software
• Previous experience with PyraMed strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Availity or similar insurance payor portals preferred
• Understanding of insurance payment allocation, account reconciliation, and payment discrepancy resolution
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately process payments and maintain patient financial records
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and daily responsibilities
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate payment discrepancies and identify appropriate resolutions
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, and Excel
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to professionally assist patients and respond to billing inquiries
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with healthcare and administrative teams
• Dependable, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
