Bus Operator

Description: The Augusta Housing Authority is seeking a part time dependable and safety-conscious Bus Operator to transport Authority residents to predetermined locations using Authority-provided transportation. The Bus Operator is responsible for providing courteous assistance to residents entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring passengers are safely seated and using safety belts, inspecting the vehicle, maintaining required transportation records and logs in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, and reporting vehicle maintenance or supply needs. Applicants must have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), maintain a good driving record, and be able to work independently while exercising sound judgment. Candidates should be comfortable working with individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and providing physical assistance to residents when needed. Minimum qualifications include graduation from a standard high school and completion of Commercial Driving and Defensive Driving courses, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. The position requires the ability to lift approximately 20–25 pounds and to bend, kneel, stretch, climb, and assist residents entering or exiting the vehicle. Applicants must also be bondable.
