POSITION SUMMARY

The Strand at Canopy Ithaca is seeking a dependable, motivated, and team-oriented PM Line Cook to join our culinary team.

The PM Line Cook is responsible for preparing and executing menu items to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. This position plays an important role in delivering a consistent dining experience for hotel guests, restaurant guests, and team members while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen.

The ideal candidate works well under pressure, communicates effectively with the kitchen and Front of House teams, and takes pride in producing high-quality food in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Preparation & Service

• Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
• Complete daily prep to ensure all stations are properly stocked and ready for service.
• Set up, stock, and maintain the assigned station throughout the shift.
• Execute food orders accurately and efficiently during busy dinner and evening service.
• Maintain consistent food quality, portion sizes, temperatures, and presentation.
• Monitor food levels throughout service and communicate shortages or additional prep needs to the Kitchen Manager.
• Assist other stations and kitchen team members as needed to maintain smooth service.

Food Safety & Sanitation

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift.
• Properly clean and sanitize equipment, work surfaces, utensils, and kitchen areas.
• Monitor food quality and freshness and immediately report any concerns.
• Properly operate and care for all kitchen equipment.

Teamwork & Communication

• Communicate clearly and professionally with entire restaurant staff, including front of house.
• Maintain a professional, respectful, and positive attitude during all shifts.
• Support the overall operation of the kitchen and restaurant by performing additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous line cook or professional kitchen experience preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant or hotel environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
• Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and direction consistently.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and move kitchen supplies and equipment as needed.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Food Handler or ServSafe certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
