Substitute Bus Driver

Job Title: Substitute Bus Driver Reports to: Transportation Supervisor/ Principal Contract: Temporary Job Goal: Ensure a secure, orderly, and positive environment for student riders while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and district transportation policies. Qualifications: Copy of high school diploma, official high school transcript, or GED Must be at least 21 years old Cleared ALSDE Fieldprint background check Must have valid driver's license with CDL/ "P" and "S" endorsements State Department of Education Bus Driver Certificate DOT Physical Classified Substitute Positions/Key Duties & Responsibilities: Operates school buses safely by following all traffic laws and district policies. Transport students on assigned or substitute routes; maintain schedule. Complete pre-trip/post-trip inspections; report issues Manage behavior, ensure safe loading/unloading; assist special-need students. Report delays/changes; communicate with transportation supervisor and principals. Complete logs, reports, and required forms. Maintain confidentiality, reliability, and flexibility; attend required training.
