Field Application Engineer

1. Who we are Our company was founded in 2006 and specializes in all things technical for bus‑based public transit systems in the US. We design, manufacture, and manage a range of products and features—including driver interfaces, dispatch communications, passenger counters, announcers, GPS tracking, and reporting & data analytics. We build real‑time information systems for riders, such as apps and digital signage at bus stops, and our work appears on Apple Maps, Google Maps, Transit app, reaching millions of riders. Our product is like air traffic control, but for buses. There are both hardware and software products in this role. Our team in the US has approximately 70 people, with 7 field engineers. What this role is about The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation in low‑voltage systems, basic networking, and hardware troubleshooting, along with experience leading installation teams and coordinating with vendors. Responsibilities Manage end‑to‑end system installations—from planning and scope definition through on‑site execution and post‑installation support. Ensure clear communication, maintain high quality standards, and proactively solve problems. Coordinate with project managers, procurement, production, field services, software engineering, and product teams. Requirements Knowledge of low‑voltage electrical systems and hands‑on troubleshooting on transit vehicles Ability to work with hardware systems such as touchscreens, routers, and passenger counters Basic IT/network configuration skills (routers, connectivity; training provided) Prior experience owning end‑to‑end technical/engineering projects Familiarity with testing tools for electrical diagnostics Experience managing installation teams and subcontractors Skilled in overseeing on‑site execution, including surveys, approvals, and validation Ability to create and explain project documentation, including scope and reports Experience with post‑installation activities Customer‑focused with a commitment to high‑quality service delivery and continuous improvement Preferred Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering 2D CAD experience Previous industry experience 5. Heavy Travel is Required Our clients run transit buses nationwide (50+ locations). Your job will involve at least 50% travel. Coordinate with other departments—including project managers, procurement & production, field services, software engineering, and product teams. 6.
