Role Description The Veterinary Technician is responsible for supporting veterinarians in delivering medical care to small animals through safe handling, treatment assistance, and patient monitoring. Day-to-day tasks include preparing exam rooms, collecting samples, performing basic laboratory tests, assisting with anesthesia and surgical procedures, and maintaining accurate medical records. The role also involves communicating with clients about treatment plans, home care instructions, and preventive care recommendations, while ensuring a clean, well-organized clinical environment. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in animal care and pet care, including safe handling, basic nursing care, and monitoring animal behavior and comfort. Proficiency in veterinary technology practices such as sample collection, lab work, medical record documentation, and assisting with diagnostic procedures. Experience or training in anesthesiology support, including pre-anesthetic preparation, monitoring during procedures, and post-operative recovery assistance. Ability to provide clear client education on treatment plans, preventive care, and at-home pet care instructions. Relevant certification or licensing as a Veterinary Technician (or eligibility to obtain), and prior experience in a small animal clinic or hospital preferred. Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting.
