This is a PRN (As Needed) position, typical hours for this clinic are Monday-Friday hours (8:30am-5pm) position with no weekends, call or major holidays./ppThis position will be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience./ppTexas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country and has approximately 600+ providers in 220+ sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. LTIP awards are subject to your continued employment through the award payment date, and are governed by the written terms and conditions of the LTIP document./ppUnder minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards./ppThe essential duties and responsibilities:/pulliPlan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices./liliAssesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material./liliPrepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician./liliAdministers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique./liliAssures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable./liliFacilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management/liliPerforms venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices./liliMaintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided./liliApplies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture./li/ulpThe ideal candidate for the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience:/pullistrongLevel I/strong ulliGraduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred./liliRN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state./liliCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification./liliMust maintain continuing education requirements./liliEntry level - 0-3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred/li/ul/lilistrongLevel II/strong ulliMinimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred/li/ul/lilistrongLevel Senior/strong ulliIn addition to levels I and II:/liliMinimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred/liliOncology certification preferred/li/ul/li/ulpThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
