Role Purpose

Corning Incorporated is hiring a Process Engineer at our Canton, NY manufacturing site. This is a full-time onsite role that typically works M – F, 40 hours per week, with a flex as needed. U.S. citizenship is required for this position. Relocation assistance is available.

Join a manufacturing engineering team that supports multiple product lines and plays a key role in process improvement, production support, and technology development. In this role, you will help drive manufacturing performance, cost reduction, quality improvement, and deeper process understanding across areas including forming, fluoride crystals, and a newer glass-making technology. This position is ideal for an engineer who can step into a manufacturing environment, manage priorities, lead projects, and support improvement initiatives and capital equipment installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects aimed at achieving manufacturing performance targets for both new and existing processes
• Define process limitations based on current equipment and process capabilities and recommend how to eliminate those limitations
• Lead efforts to develop fundamental understanding of key processes to drive continuous improvement, yield improvement, and cost reduction
• Provide guidance to management on project priority selection
• Lead and support critical engineering and development projects that support plant goals and long-term objectives
• Leverage technical and engineering resources across the division and company to improve project outcomes
• Interface with and support development on new product and process introductions, raw material changes, and equipment design changes

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of professional non-academic experience in a technical, engineering, or development role
• Experience leading or supporting process improvement and process development efforts
• Manufacturing background, ideally in environments involving chemical reactions or material transformation processes
• Strong technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions
• Demonstrated technical project leadership experience and strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for project execution and process improvement
• Project management experience
• Understanding of hypothesis testing, experiment planning, and statistical analysis
• Experience with structured problem-solving methods such as KT, DMAIC, Six Sigma, or scientific method
• Ability to work effectively with production and maintenance employees in a unionized environment
• Green Belt or Black Belt certification

The range for this position is $97,286.00 - $133,768.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
