Yard Driver

Summary Wed‑Sat (4:00 PM – 2:30 AM). Drives a gas or diesel powered tractor‑trailer combination to move trailers and containers from door to door using company software. A CDL license is required. Responsibilities Drive trailers and containers from door to door in a yard setting – no over‑the‑road driving. Open and close trailer doors during moves. Update moves throughout the shift using company software. Collaborate with other drivers to complete moves efficiently. Conduct daily inspections to ensure truck safety. Assist Class C license drivers in obtaining a Class A permit within 90 days and a Class A license within 90 days thereafter. Supervisory Responsibilities There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position. Safety and Security Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate action beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly. Special Qualifications Meet all DOT qualification guidelines. Education and/or Experience Two years specific experience as a Yard Driver. Physical Demands Must pass DOT physical. Regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk or hear; frequently stand; occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Noise level is usually moderate.
