Direct Counsel is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join a nationally recognized labor and employment practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney with litigation experience to handle sophisticated employment matters while working in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Location: Houston, TX

Qualifications:

• 3-4 years of labor and employment litigation experience.
• Experience with temporary restraining orders and temporary injunction proceedings.
• Experience handling trade secret misappropriation and non-compete litigation.
• Experience with wage and hour class actions and single-plaintiff employment litigation.
• Strong legal writing skills.
• Experience with discovery, motion practice, and researching and drafting pleadings, motions, and other court filings.
• Trial preparation experience in state and federal courts preferred.
• Experience participating in settlement conferences and negotiations preferred.
• Strong academic credentials.
• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• Active member in good standing of the Texas Bar.
• Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills.
• Exceptional work ethic and ability to thrive in a busy, collegial environment.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in business development.
• Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Handle labor and employment litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Represent employers in disputes involving trade secrets, restrictive covenants, wage and hour claims, and other employment matters.
• Handle expedited proceedings involving temporary restraining orders and temporary injunctions.
• Manage discovery and develop litigation strategy.
• Research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings.
• Participate in motion practice and prepare matters for trial.
• Assist with trial preparation in state and federal courts.
• Participate in settlement conferences and negotiations.
• Communicate with clients and provide strategic guidance regarding litigation matters.
• Collaborate with attorneys and other professionals to achieve favorable client outcomes.
• Contribute to client relationships and business development efforts.

Compensation: $260,000-$310,000 annually, depending on education, experience, internal equity, and other job-related factors.
