10K Sign on Bonus Overview The Physician Assistant at HealthTexas performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, interprets laboratory results, and develops and implements patient care plans. They provide direct patient care under the direction of a licensed physician and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients and review patient records. Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Perform a complete physical exam, record findings, and formulate a working diagnosis. Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesize data to establish preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan emphasizing prevention. Administer injections, immunizations, and oral medications; prepare prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances. Interview and advise patients on health and illness prevention; recommend community resources. Instruct patients and families on medications, treatment instructions, and provide education. Assist physicians by recording progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders, and transcribing orders. Facilitate the HTMG Foot Care clinic and provide services at the Saturday clinic as required. Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation. Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations. Monitor and ensure continuity of care between physician visits. Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations. Use oral and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and positively. Maintain established HTMG policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Keep current with health care administration trends and practices. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Implement job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the HTMG Code of Ethics. Maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by the medical group. Perform other related work as required. Experience Knowledge of healthcare law and code of ethics. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Working knowledge of clinical systems such as electronic health records. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals. Ability to assess and diagnose medical conditions. Ability to provide primary care and health maintenance. Ability to order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays. In-depth knowledge of medications and their side effects. Competency in performing minor medical procedures. Ability to provide patient education and counseling.Familiarity with community health resources and referrals. Must have specific managed care experience. Education and Licensing Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program, NCCPA certification, and a current Texas State Medical Board license. Valid DEA license or ability to obtain one prior to employment. Work Hours, Travel and Physical Requirements Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with additional hours as needed. Travel to medical offices may be necessary for benefit education. This job is office‑setting with standard equipment (computers, phones, printers, scanners, filing systems). Typical duties are largely sedentary with occasional filing, lifting of files, and use of office equipment.
