ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST SUPERVISOR - MATERNAL/FETAL

Under the direction of the Department Director, coordinate operations and supervise staff assigned to Ultrasound. Oversee administrative, fiscal and human resources management activities within the assigned area. Provide direct patient care services as required. Ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations. Patient care assignments may include neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric age groups. Compensation and Benefits Sign‑On Bonus Available. Relocation Assistance Available. Receive 17% weekly night shift, 26% weekend night, and 15% weekend day shift differentials. Minimum offered: $44.05/hr. Maximum offered: $55.61/hr. Compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, and other business and organizational considerations. Responsibilities Follow patient safety‑related policies, procedures, and protocols. Develop an efficient organizational structure, supervise employees, select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments, and encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives. Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in‑services, meetings, and workshops. Demonstrate a proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes. Participate in continuous quality improvement activities by evaluating patient care systems that may include standards, protocols, and documentation. Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk. Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures on equipment, ensure equipment is cleaned daily, and maintain awareness of and compliance with responsibilities, operating procedures and safety regulations. Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner. Designate shift and schedule assignments; assign duties in accordance with the plan of care, patient needs, and within the scope of staff qualifications and licensure/certification/registry. Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right". Develop and administer the division's annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and University Hospitals' policies and procedures. Serve as liaison for assigned area; coordinate activities in collaboration with other staff professionals, divisions, departments, and organizations. Plan, direct and manage assigned activities and operations to include administrative, fiscal and human resources management. Provide direct patient care services to inpatient and outpatient; participate in on‑call services as required; assign and monitor shift responsibilities. Monitor image quality to ensure accuracy; provide direct patient care services as required. Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures; identify and recommend areas of improvement; prepare and maintain a variety of reports; analyze and interpret reports as required. Act as a clinical resource and role model for department personnel; demonstrate the UNMH Standards of Performance. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Qualifications Education (Essential) Associate Degree Program Graduate Education (Nonessential) Bachelor's Degree Education Specialization (Essential) Related Discipline Ultrasonography CAAHEP Accredited (AMA) Education Specialization (Nonessential) Related Discipline Experience (Essential) 3 years directly related experience Experience (Nonessential) 1 to 3 years OB/GYN and/or MFM experience Credentials (Essential) CPR for Healthcare/BLS Proven or Professional Rescuer within 30 days ARDMS or Ultrasound Certificate from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Nuchal Translucency Quality Review within 6 months ARDMS‑Fetal Echocardiography within 26 months of position NM Med Imag & Rad Therapy License (NMMIRT) Valid New Mexico Driver's License UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit within 60 days Credentials (Nonessential) Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Physical Conditions Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
