Planner I (Administration & Operations) - Enterprise Physical Operations

Position Summary The Enterprise Physical Operations, Infrastructure, Capital Programs & Real Estate (EPO) department at WashU provides integrated operational, infrastructure, planning, and facility services that support the university’s mission of excellence in education, research, patient care, and community engagement. EPO manages and supports 28 million gross square feet across 235+ buildings and associated infrastructure systems, encompassing academic, research, clinical, residential, administrative, and support facilities across the university’s campuses and operations. Our teams provide strategic leadership and operational expertise in facility management, infrastructure services, capital project delivery, real estate operations, planning, sustainability, engineering, maintenance, environmental services, public safety support, and enterprise operational services. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Provides preliminary and conceptual planning and programming, including estimating facilities projects of a complex nature, coordinating the space and physical planning for Enterprise facilities, and developing space plans to accommodate staffing and business requirements. Leads design of databases for modules and/or projects, monitoring progress to ensure timely completion of deliverables; analyzes data related to space utilization, productivity, efficiencies and cost/time estimates. Determines appropriate technical solutions and makes relevant recommendations or implements internally. Works closely with Enterprise project personnel and other team members to develop detailed specifications, documents, and supports clear project deliverables and timelines. Collaborates with clients, project managers, and other planners during migrations and movements or reconstruction. Communicates with management team regarding efficiency and accuracy as well as progress and/or delays. Pilots applications to ensure performance and capacity plans meet expectations, including performing query writing and optimization. Coordinates with Information Security Office on assessing the risk of the database environments as needed and implementing appropriate controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Job Location: Normal office environment. Physical Effort: Typically sitting at desk or table; bending, crouching, stooping; occasional lifting (25 lbs. or less); repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement; ability to move on and off‑campus locations. Equipment: Office equipment. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree (Required). Master’s degree (Preferred). Work Experience: 6 years in Medical or Facilities Management and Planning. Certifications/Professional Licenses: None required.
