KFSN-TV/ABC30 Action News, the ABC Owned Television Station in Central California, is seeking an experienced News Photographer. This position is essential to gathering high-quality content that feeds our top-rated newscasts. The role is critical to covering stories across our six-county viewing area. We are looking for a modern content creator who works productively as a team with a reporter or independently, and who is inherently creative, embraces new technology, and has a desire to expand storytelling techniques daily. A successful candidate will be highly motivated, have a proven track record in the fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment of daily local news gathering, thrive under continuous deadlines, and approach challenges with a problem‑solving mindset while demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and work ethic. Responsibilities : Shoot and edit video for daily newscasts while meeting strict deadlines Set up, light, and transmit live shots Communicate with assignment desk and producers Assist with upkeep of equipment Create graphic elements for news stories Minimum Qualifications : Experience shooting, editing, and producing high‑quality video content in a fast‑paced professional or college newsroom environment Proficiency in field cameras, lighting, and non‑linear editing Ability to work as a self‑starter, often alone, to find, shoot, and report stories with strong news judgment Proficiency in using non‑linear editing software Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, especially for breaking news Ability to carry, lift, and move up to 50+ pounds of equipment Valid license and clean driving record Preferred Qualifications : Small to medium market experience as a News Photographer/Editor Knowledge of live technology, such as Dejero and LiveU Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro Experience creating vertical videos Required Education : High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Education : Some college preferred This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between IBEW‑45 and KFSN‑TV. The pay rate for this role in Fresno, California is $21 to $30 per hour. The rate actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The role also has potential for additional compensation for overtime and early‑morning/overnight shifts.
