Job Title : President

Location: Albany, NY Capital District

Overview: Help for Parkinson’s supports people affected by Parkinson’s Disease through education, advocacy, programs, and resources. The President role requires about 3–5 hours per week, up to 20 hours during event preparation.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:

Lead the organization and oversee daily operations.

Manage and support volunteers.

Lead meetings (mostly via Zoom)

Fundraising and Development:

Develop fundraising strategies for support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and grants.

Manage donor relationships and oversee fundraising events.

Maintain and expand relationships with wellness providers.

Financial Oversight:

Work with the Treasurer and Bookkeeper to prepare budgets.

Review monthly financial statements.

Recommend spending and budgets to the Board.

Community Engagement:

Represent the organization and build community partnerships.

Build relationships with people affected by Parkinson’s, Healthcare and Wellness providers, and community leaders.

Board Relations and Governance:

Support and collaborate with the Board to advance the mission and strategic goals.

Ensure sound financial practices and legal compliance

Qualifications:

Nonprofit management experience, including fundraising, financial management, and strategic planning, is preferred but not required.

Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate staff and volunteers.

Excellent communication skills, including grant writing and public speaking.

Knowledge of and passion for Parkinson’s-related issues preferred.
