We know that our success is a direct result of the exceptional talents and dedication of our employees.For eligible employees, benefits include: Competitive compensation & benefits Medical, dental, vision Company-paid life insurance Flexible spending accounts 403(b) retirement planWhy VCC?• Winner of the 2025 HRSA Gold Medal for Outstanding Care, placing VCC among the top 10% of Federally Qualified Health Centers in the U.S.• Recognized by HRSA as a National Quality Leader in Behavioral Health and Diabetes and for excellence in Preventive Health and Health IT.• A robust training & development culture to help you grow and advance your career.• A workplace built on respect, collaboration and passion for care.ResponsibilitiesSupport physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and/or nurses by taking vitals, assisting in medical examinations and other specific procedures and providing translation services.Print and review schedule daily in preparation for the dayPrepare patients for examination and assist clinicians with the examination and/or procedureTake vital signs, height and weight of patients; plot growth charts; record immunizationsApply and remove bandages and dressings, orthopedic appliances such as knee immobilizers, envelope slings, orthotics and similar devices and assist clinicians in cast, splint and orthopedic appliance applications.Select and adjust crutches and provide patient instruction on proper usePerform simple laboratory and screening tests customarily performed in a medical office such as visual acuity, audiometric screening, Snellen tests, spirometry tests and EKG'sSet up appropriate instrument trays for special proceduresVerify the purpose of the visitSet up rooms for clinician use in accordance with patient's needsGive counseling, care and follow-up instructions, health education and materials to patients as instructed by clinicianProvide confidential, culturally sensitive and appropriate language translation for clinician and patientAdminister intramuscular, subcutaneous and intra-dermal injections, perform skin tests and venipuncture for purposes of withdrawing blood under the direct supervision of the clinicianWash, wrap and autoclave instruments according to guidelinesPrepare disposable and infectious waste for appropriate disposalMaintain electronic patient records and charges to ensure completeness and accuracy of informationComplete appropriate electronic forms as required for the patient's medical treatment, including radiology and laboratory slips and referrals based on clinicians findingsAssist in minor surgery and other specialty surgical and medical procedures only under the direct supervision of the clinicianReview, perform and schedule preventable health maintenance per scheduleEnsure patient satisfaction forms are distributed and completedPerform basic lab tests as needed (i.e. pregnancy, dipstix, rapid strep, etc)Monitor status of equipment and report problemsReview exam room and station inventory for verification of expiration dates and adequate room stockResponsible for reporting room and equipment maintenance needsMaintain effective communication with clinician throughout shift to ensure smooth patient flowPrint and distribute EM Coding Report for clinician twice daily (mid-day and prior to end of shift)Obtain reservation number as needed for appropriate lab tests for FPACT patients with in-house labs performedEnhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature review, in-service meetings and workshopsSupport the vision, mission and goals, and demonstrate a commitment to the values, of the organizationPerform other duties as directedQualificationsMinimum• High school graduate or equivalent• Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved school or hospital including externship verification of 6 months' clinical (back office) MA experience may be submitted in lieu of externship)• Bilingual English/Spanish • Current CPR/BLS (Child, Infant and Adult) certification• Phlebotomy experiencePreferred• Minimum one year back office experience in a clinical environment• Phlebotomy certificationRequired Skills/Knowledge/Abilities• Good knowledge of general back office procedures, such as taking vitals, performing venipuncture, administering immunizations, etc• Good comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology in English and Spanish • Emergency response capability for possible crisis situations• Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e-mail communication systems and internet search capabilitiesPay Range$23.00 - $25.00 Depending On Experience
