About the Position

Job Title: RN - Labor and Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active RN License Certifications: Experience with high-risk maternal patients Must-Have: Experience with high-risk maternal patients Circulating Operating Room and triage experience Description: Contract position for an RN in Labor and Delivery. Requires 13 weeks of commitment on a night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM). No on-call requirements. Weekends: 4 weekend shifts scheduled. Unit is a Level 4 designated maternal center. Cares for the most complex patients at any gestation. 22 beds available, including 16 labor beds. Approximately 100 staff members, including RNs and support staff. Night shift usually has 1 charge nurse, 2 surgical techs, 1 unit clerk. Typically staffs to census, with about 9 staff members during the week and 7 on weekends. Patient ratios are 1:2 and 1:1 depending on acuity. Utilizes EMR systems CPN and Meditech. Permanent positions available on the unit for nights and weekends. Candidates must demonstrate skills in high-risk maternal care. Preferred candidates will have over 5 years of experience. Common procedures include vaginal and cesarean section deliveries, tubal ligations, cerclage placement and removal, and D&C C-hyst. Successful candidates will be multi-taskers who can work quickly and adapt to changing situations. Collaboration is essential as it is a team-oriented unit. Dress code requires navy blue scrubs. The unit has standardized order sets and guidelines available for review. Recognition includes "America’s Best Maternity Client 2023" and a Leap Frog Grade A. The unit is undergoing renovations to update all rooms. Staff enjoys a supportive leadership team that can assist with patient care as needed.
