Manager - Fire Protection Engineering

Job Overview This position is responsible for leading a team of technical contributors in the Houston, TX office performing a range of professional services, primarily in the Fire and Building Safety or Industrial Process Safety service line. Successful execution includes a strong focus on staff engagement and career development. Successful candidates must reside in or relocate to the Houston Metro area. This is an in‑office role with no hybrid or remote option. Relocation assistance will be provided if needed. Responsibilities Team Culture Work with leadership to promote a positive, healthy culture and diversity in thought. Keep staff informed of company initiatives and communications. Client Focus Maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues to deliver quality products on time and within budget. Manage client expectations through clear communication. Participate in business development activities. Technical Excellence Implement and recommend business process improvements for best‑in‑class service. Maintain honesty, integrity, and knowledge of company policies and procedures. Develop innovative solutions leveraging team diversity. Professional Growth Work closely with leadership to execute strategies. Assist in recruiting and retaining top talent. Train staff on technical, project management, and business processes. Identify opportunities for service line growth and staff development. Proactively broaden the team’s skill base. Team Management Lead 4–8 technical contributors and project managers. Establish performance standards and conduct regular conversations. Guide and coach individuals toward success. Mentor staff in technical, project management, and business development skills. Requirements and Qualifications Minimum 3 years of technical consulting experience with a successful history of client relationship building. Well‑rounded knowledge of fire protection engineering fundamentals. Professional designation desirable but not required (e.g., Professional Engineering License). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. In‑office work arrangement; relocation to the Houston Metro area required.
