Senior Financial Analyst
Position Overview
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will play a key role within the Industrial Automation Finance team, supporting financial planning and analysis (FP&A), corporate controlling, financial reporting, and strategic business decision-making across the organization. Reporting to Finance leadership, this role offers the flexibility to work remotely, in a hybrid capacity, or onsite based on business needs and candidate location. With a primary focus on North American operations and regular collaboration with global finance and operational teams, you will provide meaningful financial insights, strengthen financial discipline, and support business performance through forecasting, reporting, analysis, and business partnering activities. This position offers the opportunity to move beyond a traditional site-based finance role by taking ownership of segment-level financial planning, project-based analysis, cash flow visibility, and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will be a confident and collaborative finance professional with the ability to translate complex financial information into actionable business recommendations, while leveraging technology, reporting automation, and emerging data-driven tools to enhance financial processes and decision-making.
Lead and support month-end close, financial reporting, account analysis, reconciliations, and general ledger integrity for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Provide timely and actionable financial analysis related to margin, cost drivers, profitability, project performance, forecasts, budgets, and cash flow.
• Partner with Industrial Automation finance and operational stakeholders across North America and global teams to support business decision-making and financial discipline.
• Support project-based financial reporting and analysis, including understanding of percentage-of-completion concepts and the financial impact of project execution on business performance.
• Take ownership of recurring financial reporting, corporate controlling activities, dashboards, and ad hoc analysis that support segment leadership and operational teams.
• Strengthen internal controls, audit readiness, documentation quality, and compliance with company financial policies and governance requirements.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or improve financial reporting processes, including use of data tools and emerging technologies where practical.
Specific Responsibilities
Financial Reporting, Accounting & Controls
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with applicable accounting standards.
• Lead and support month-end close activities, including review of journal entries, accruals, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate variances, reconciling items, unusual trends, and financial risks; provide clear commentary and recommended actions.
• Prepare audit working papers and act as a key contact for internal and external audit requests within assigned areas of responsibility.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and well-supported accounting records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Support compliance with internal controls, financial governance requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Identify control gaps, process risks, and improvement opportunities; recommend practical solutions that improve consistency, accuracy, and efficiency.
FP&A, Forecasting & Business Analysis
• Develop and maintain monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and financial models that support operational planning and leadership decision-making.
• Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, including margin analysis, cost analysis, profitability reviews, project performance, and trend reporting.
• Prepare cash flow and liquidity forecasts, analyze variances, and provide commentary on key drivers.
• Translate financial data into meaningful insights for finance leadership, operational teams, services, sales, and other business partners.
• Prepare and enhance recurring and ad hoc financial reports, dashboards, and analysis for operational teams and leadership.
• Use data tools, automation opportunities, and technology-enabled reporting approaches to improve visibility, accuracy, and speed of financial information.
Operational & Segment Support
• Partner with department and segment leaders to provide financial insights, variance commentary, and recommendations that support cost control and operational performance.
• Collaborate with controllers and finance stakeholders across multiple geographies, including North America and global Industrial Automation teams.
• Administer and support the capital expenditure approval process, including financial review, tracking, reporting, and documentation of capital projects.
• Maintain fixed asset records, review asset additions and disposals, and ensure appropriate supporting documentation.
• Support project-based business analysis, including review of project performance, financial trends, and the impact of project execution on broader results.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline financial processes, improve reporting accuracy, and increase efficiency.
Tax, Regulatory & Compliance Support
• Prepare, review, or support applicable indirect tax, government, and regulatory reporting requirements within assigned areas of responsibility.
• Maintain accurate documentation and provide timely information to support filings, audits, inquiries, and internal compliance requirements.
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• CPA designation, CPA in progress, MBA, Master’s degree, or equivalent professional education is considered an asset.
• Equivalent experience in a complex finance, accounting, FP&A, or corporate controlling environment may be considered.
Experience
• Minimum of five years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, FP&A, controllership, or a related role.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, systems integration, engineering, project-based, or similarly complex environments is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting principles required; exposure to US GAAP or multi-entity reporting environments is considered an asset.
• Experience supporting month-end close, financial statements, reconciliations, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow analysis, and variance commentary.
• Experience with project-based financial analysis and percentage-of-completion concepts is considered an asset.
• Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders, operational leaders, controllers, and finance teams across multiple locations or geographies is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required; experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards is considered an asset.
• Experience with reporting tools, dashboards, data lakes, process automation, AI-enabled tools, Power BI, or similar technologies is considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret financial results, identify trends, and communicate business implications clearly.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation quality.
• Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively with strong stakeholders and present recommendations with professionalism and credibility.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and operate with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working beyond the immediate finance team to coordinate with global and cross-functional partners.
• Creative problem-solving mindset with interest in improving financial processes, reporting, tools, and data visibility.
• Demonstrated initiative and willingness to take ownership of a broad range of financial activities.
Preferred Candidate Profile
• Brings senior-level finance experience from a manufacturing, automation, systems integration, project-based, or similarly complex business environment.
• Has the confidence and business maturity to engage with segment leaders, operational stakeholders, and global finance partners.
• Can balance accounting discipline with FP&A insight, including the ability to improve reporting, support decisions, and drive practical process improvements.
• Demonstrates curiosity about technology-enabled finance, including reporting automation, AI-enabled tools, data lakes, or improved data flows.
