Job Description Join ARA Diagnostic Imaging (A Radiology Partners practice): Make a local impact in the Greater Austin, TX area! Position Summary Perform and maintain monthly quality control on the ultrasound system as required by credentialing organizations. Perform ultrasound procedures as prescribed by a physician, following established techniques and methods in operating equipment and processing images, ensuring technical quality and exercising judgment in processing assigned workload. Assist the radiologist in performing image‑guided diagnostic and invasive procedures (e.g., paracentesis, thoracentesis, and sonograms). Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures by escorting them to dressing and ultrasound rooms, providing verbal and written instructions, positioning patients for the proper view, selecting transducer, and making equipment adjustments according to the nature of the test. Assess the patient’s previous exams/reports, load or digitize outside studies if applicable before the procedure, review the referral form for each procedure, ensure accuracy of the referral in the system, and for certain procedures, administer medication as prescribed by a physician. Desired Professional Skills and Experience Knowledge of ultrasound technology principles and procedures, normally acquired through completion of an ultrasound technology training program. Knowledge and work experience necessary to independently conduct routine and specialized radiologic tests, assist physicians with special techniques or procedures, and become familiar with physician and department work methods and facility policies and procedures. Analytical skills necessary to conduct routine ultrasound tests and review results for accuracy and quality, verify patient information, complete material for the medical record, and monitor supply levels. Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) recognized by the American Heart Association. Current registry by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (or must be registry‑eligible and obtain registry within one year of employment in the technologist position).
