Position Details

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in providing high-quality psychiatric care. This position guarantees 48 hours per week and requires a commitment to promoting mental health and well-being for our patients.

Unit Overview

• Number of Beds: ADOL: 18, Serenity: 24, ITU: 32, SRAD: 16, VINE: 9
• Patient Ratios: Nurses: 8:1, Mental Health Technicians: 12:1
• Unit Descriptions:
  
  
  • ADOL: Adolescent unit for patients aged 12-18.
  • Serenity: Lower acuity adult unit.
  • ITU: Higher acuity adult unit focusing on thought disorder diagnoses.
  • SRAD: Unit for patients who live a senior lifestyle.
  • VINE: Lower acuity adult unit.
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: Coverage needed for three 12-hour shifts daily, seven days a week.
• Floating Policy: Staff may float to areas of greatest need.

Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment: Evaluate mental health status, recognizing psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral issues. This includes taking comprehensive patient histories and observing behavior.
• Care Planning: Create individualized care plans tailored to patients' mental health needs, setting goals, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes.
• Medication Management: Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions while ensuring compliance with medication protocols.
• Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support to patients in crisis using de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management.

Qualifications

• Active Blue Card and CPI certification are required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.

Skills Required

• Therapeutic Communication: Foster trust and rapport with patients through effective communication, active listening, and empathy.
• Monitoring: Observe and assess patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs and medication effects.

Dress Code

Nurses are required to wear blue uniforms, while Mental Health Technicians should wear green or black uniforms.
