- Perform a variety of maintenance, repair and operational duties for the park office to which assigned.
- Maintain and repair equipment such as, hydraulic gates, hoists, hangers, cranes, elevators, sump pumps, water systems pumps, chlorinators and stand-by generators.
- Inspect circuit breakers and fuses.
- Weld similar metal components together to fabricate or repair equipment. Use gas welding, brazing or arc welding.
- Carpentry: Construct, install, repair or modify items and structures.
- Collect humidity, temperature and wind velocity readings from weather instruments.
- Operate a variety of vehicles and vessels.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Possession of or the ability to acquire the following licenses: a state driver's license; a Corps of Engineers boat operator's license; and a forklift operator's license.
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends depending on the needs of the project to which the employee is assigned.
- Incumbent is required to work in adverse weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.).
- Covered under the DA/USACE Random Drug Testing program based upon Dam/Flood Control Operations (USACE Specific Criterion).
- Subject to pre-employment and regular physical examinations.
- Required to wear prescribed uniform as identified in regulation ER 1130-2-550, dated 15 November 1996.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
- Uses moderate physical effort to stack, load, unload, move and carry tools, equipment and materials ranging in weight from 10 pounds to 50 pounds unassisted . Occasionally lifts heavier objects with assistance (e.g., using a hand truck). Required to reach, walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Occasionally works in cramped quarters, or from ladders, scaffolds or platforms.
- Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.) and usually in a dirty, dusty and/or greasy environment. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks, burns, cuts bruises, maimed fingers and scrapes. Occasionally is required to wear uncomfortable protective clothing.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

- This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest.
