Behavioral Health Specialist

Greater Lawrence Family Health Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Behavioral Health Specialist to support patients with a wide range of mental and behavioral health needs. GLFHC provides integrated behavioral health services alongside primary care, with services including counseling, crisis intervention, medication management, and support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress management, and addiction.

The Behavioral Health Specialist will work as part of a multidisciplinary care team to help patients address psychosocial challenges and improve their overall well-being. The position requires strong communication, empathy, cultural awareness, and the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and community resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide behavioral health support, assessment, and appropriate interventions to patients.
• Conduct screenings and identify behavioral, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
• Assist patients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, or other behavioral health concerns.
• Develop and implement individualized support plans in collaboration with the care team.
• Provide brief interventions, counseling, education, and supportive services within the scope of the position.
• Participate in crisis intervention and help connect patients with appropriate resources.
• Coordinate referrals to behavioral health providers, community programs, and other support services.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and records.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate relevant concerns to appropriate clinical staff.
• Promote healthy coping strategies, self-management, and overall mental wellness.
• Participate in case conferences, team meetings, staff training, and professional-development activities.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable healthcare policies and regulations.
• Provide culturally responsive and patient-centered support to individuals and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
• Previous experience in behavioral health, community healthcare, social services, or a related setting.
• Knowledge of behavioral health assessment and intervention practices.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with patients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly desirable given GLFHC's culturally and linguistically diverse patient population.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and handle sensitive information appropriately.
