• Department: Respiratory Therapy
• Schedule: PRN, Night Shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, 1 to 2 shifts per week
• Shift Differentials: Available for night, weekend, and additional shifts
• Location: Healthplex Facility

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering advanced respiratory care to patients in critical care and emergency situations. This position demands strong clinical judgment, expertise in complex respiratory therapies, and the ability to work effectively and independently in high-pressure environments.

• Initiate and manage peripheral IV access, assisting with IV therapies in accordance with facility policies.
• Conduct arterial and venous blood gas sampling and assist with laboratory specimen collection.
• Support respiratory function and patient safety through splinting and proper patient positioning.
• Accompany physicians during examinations and procedures as necessary.
• Monitor patients undergoing conscious sedation, ensuring effective airway management, oxygenation, and ventilation.
• Set up, operate, and monitor both invasive and noninvasive ventilator support, adjusting settings based on patient needs.
• Administer noninvasive ventilation therapies, including BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen systems.
• Perform thorough respiratory assessments and document findings, including breath sounds and ventilator parameters.
• Recognize changes in patient respiratory status and respond appropriately, collaborating with the healthcare team.
• Engage in emergency response situations, providing airway and ventilatory support as needed.
• Adhere to infection control practices, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

• Must be a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT).
• Preferred: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in critical care.
• Emergency Room (ER) experience is a plus.
• Proven skills in mechanical ventilation, airway management, and critical care respiratory therapies.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in high-stress environments.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and documentation abilities.

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience and education.
• No prior experience required.

• Frequent oral communication and active listening.
• Constant standing and walking.
• Regular lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Frequent use of vision for near and far distances, as well as color recognition.
• Occasional lifting of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs and moving patients.
• Occasional bending, stooping, and repetitive movements.
Licenses and Certifications
• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• State-specific certifications as required.
Work Environment

This position involves night shifts and is classified as an employee role within the Healthplex El Reno Respiratory Therapy department.
