Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Project Engineer for one of our offices in Sacramento, CA. This role plays a key role in advancing the California High-Speed Rail program by providing technical guidance on design and construction activities. This position supports project delivery through design review, field engineering, and coordination with contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies to ensure safety, quality, and compliance.Review and provide technical oversight of engineering submittals, construction drawings, and specifications for compliance with CAHSR standards and applicable codesSupport the resolution of design and construction issues, including field engineering changes, RFIs, and non-conformance reportsCoordinate across disciplines (civil, structural, geotechnical, systems, and environmental) to ensure integration of design and construction activitiesProvide technical input during constructability reviews and value engineering assessmentsTake part in the management of contractor teams to bid, propose and deploy for construction. Monitor construction progress and support the Engineering Manager in ensuring quality, cost, and schedule adherence. Be proactive in solving any field issue to alleviate contractor impacts.Assist in the development and maintenance of engineering procedures, technical criteria, construction, and project documentationInterface with contractors, consultants, local jurisdictions, and regulatory agencies as required for technical coordinationSupport risk identification and mitigation activities related to engineering and construction.QualificationsMinimum requirements:BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California, or the ability to take the exam as soon as practical.Preferred Requirements:Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related disciplineMinimum of 5 years of progressively responsible engineering experience on major transportation or infrastructure projects, with emphasis on design review and construction supportDemonstrated knowledge of engineering standards, construction methods, and project delivery for large-scale transportation or rail projectsStrong technical writing and communication skills for coordination across multidisciplinary teamsExperience with high-speed rail, commuter rail, or other complex rail transit projectsExperience working on federally and state-funded transportation projectsFamiliarity with Caltrans, FRA, and CPUC standards and requirementsProject Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirableAdditional InformationAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
