Level 1 RN - Psychiatric Emergency Room

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Level 1 RN for our Psychiatric Emergency Room. This position involves conducting intake assessments, providing nursing care, and collaborating with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff to develop effective treatment plans for patients experiencing emotional disturbances.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
• Plan and provide nursing care for patients with psychiatric needs.
• Make nursing diagnoses regarding the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment plans.
• Administer psychotropic medications and monitor patient reactions.
• Arrange further medical attention for patients when necessary.
• Assist clients in understanding their emotional disturbances and the need for treatment.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
• Document patient information accurately and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Provide high-quality service to patients and the public by addressing service requests appropriately.

Schedule

This is a weekend-blocked position with a rotational day/night schedule. Availability for holidays, on-call, and callback duties is required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN license in New York.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a psychiatric or similar setting.
• Telemetry experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Assignment Duration

This is a contract position with an expected assignment length of 13 weeks.
