Rehabilitation Physical Therapist Assistant - Inpatient Focus

You will be working in a supportive, fast-paced environment alongside other healthcare professionals including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists. Our facility is equipped with cutting-edge rehabilitation technology and resources to facilitate effective and efficient patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Physical Therapist in implementing tailored treatment strategies aimed at improving patients' mobility and overall physical well-being.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and assist with stretching routines to optimize functional recovery.
• Educate patients on proper body mechanics and techniques for at-home exercises to reinforce treatment benefits.
• Administer therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy following protocols established by the supervising therapist.
• Monitor patient progress meticulously, documenting improvements in range of motion, strength, and functionality using electronic health records systems.
• Organize and prepare treatment areas, ensuring all equipment is maintained and readily available for upcoming therapy sessions.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure cohesive and comprehensive patient care.
• Provide encouragement and emotional support to patients, fostering a nurturing rehabilitation atmosphere.
• Adhere to ethical standards in practice including maintaining patient confidentiality and providing high-quality, respectful care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The PTA will work with a diverse range of patients, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurological impairments, sports injuries, and age-related mobility issues. Our patients include children recovering from sports injuries to older adults needing assistance for post-surgical mobility and function. Your role will be pivotal in not only aiding in their physical rehabilitation but also in enhancing their confidence and motivation throughout their recovery journey.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as Health Sciences or Exercise Science.
• A valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Fundamental knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic intervention techniques.
• Experience in implementing therapeutic exercises and modalities under the supervision of licensed professionals.
• A strong rapport-building ability, showcasing excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work well with patients and the healthcare team.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a hospital setting or multidisciplinary rehabilitation clinic.

Compensation and Benefits
